Xoli had a love for music and dance from a young age, and joined a traditional performance group called Impizulu at the age of 15. In 1993 she joined Vuka Afrika and honed her skills as a performer when she toured to Italy. In 1994 she performed in France and Portugal as part of Vuka Afrika. Xoli joined the Drum Cafe in 2004, and became a part of the female group, Basadi Le Meropa. In the last few years she has learnt to play the marimba and djembe.
